November Sigil-Mana Balancer
“The soul demands your folly, not your wisdom”
-Carl Gustav Jung
Sometimes finding balance requires a moment away from the bustle of life, to reconnect and to restore our sanity. We use Meditation, journaling, yoga, and so on to achieve this end
Sometimes, we can only find it when we are bouncing around,, whilst dealing with our own libido energy, and contending with others’. Libido is the drive and will to power, to get what we want out of life, the need for connection and excitement and the feeling of aliveness.
All too often we repress this desire. So we can ‘get along’. We strike a compromise, not realizing that by doing so we are always going to be getting less out of life than what we put in. We tell ourselves it is wise to do so. We are restraining our selfish desires in order to contribute to the greater society.
We do this in many ways, not without nobility. At least at first. It is noble for a father to put aside his ailing music career to find a secure job to provide for his family. It is noble for a daughter to be up all night to comfort her sick elderly mother. There are times in life when we have to curb our own drives to help others in need, or to work towards a distant goal. Otherwise we become addicts to our desires.
Then one day, the kids are older, the mother has gotten better or passed away, we have finished college, etc. There is this space that occurs. A deep yearning within us once again resurfaces. The drive for freedom. Then it is natural to go for it. To listen to this deep desire. This powerful libido that will not stop for anyone or anything to get what it needs. How do we control this passion? Without being consumed by it? Without snuffing out its flame?
It is important for this desire to be channeled into more healthy pursuits. But sometimes, if it has been without expression for so long, it may feel a little, well, rebellious, perhaps a little destructive. We cannot just unleash the dragon! It will burn down the whole village. Nor can we try to banish it or put it back into its hole. The world is much more interesting with dragons in it.
The energies provided for us this coming November are designed for the purpose of helping us reconnect with and pursue our dreams, whilst also ensuring we keep balanced in the process. It requires us to be open and wiling to make mistakes with our libido. We may bump into others, we may jostle and shout, we may get sulky or surly. But JUST enough so we can rein it back in, ruminate on it, and reintegrate it. Making us just a little bit more effective than we were before. Too much energy and we risk burning ourselves out or getting into dangerous or toxic situations. Too little and we procrastinate, miss opportunities, and essentially squander our potential.
We will oscillate between these two extremes, and we must in a way, lean into these tendencies, trusting in our innate ability to come back into balance. We must risk feeling foolish, perhaps a little out of control sometimes. We must also risk getting deflated, frustrated, and lost. We must be the fools that we truly are in order to learn how to live a full, inspired life. Actually the sigil looks a little like one of those dunce hats that are put on unruly school children when they are not fitting into the regimen. Knowingly and with a sardonic smile, put this sigil/hat on your head. Wear it proudly. As a fool would.
We can also imagine this sigil in our minds as always being in motion teetering from one side, until its side bumper hits the floor, only for it to bounce back up again, and then gently fall to the other side, ‘bump’, to fall back to the other side. Imagine it stops, straight and tall in the middle for a moment, as you find the desired balance, only to go ‘bump’ and start the whole process over. Imagine the vortex symbol in the middle is the libido energy powering this process, while the triangle that houses it is the rudder for this power, ensuring it keeps heading in the right direction. Hey, you’re a human Weeble!
Only by trial and error will this power’s true potential be realized. None of us come into this world knowing all that there is to know, and we will all leave with further questions and mysteries in our minds. We our born into folly, and we leave in folly. Best that we embrace this undeniable truth and live our lives as fully and as well as we can. Loving ourselves and others along the way.
“Why is this sigil becoming active during Fall?” some of the more astute of you may say. “Isn’t this the time to let things fall away in time for Winter, not for galivanting off on adventures?” Too true. Consider this as practice for when you’re ready to fully gallivant. As whenever you hit a wall, or whenever you fall out of balance, you learn. You learn what works, and what DOESN’T. But instead of having to look within to find out what you need to let go of, life experience will gladly and effectively show you.
